On site access

Various instruments from the collection are displayed in the exhibition gallery; others are kept in Museum storerooms. Digital versions of documents related to the instruments can be accessed in the Museum. Direct access to original documents and to instruments themselves for examination is granted only to scholars for verified studies and then only upon acceptance of the Museum's access rules.

online catalogue

The Museum's online catalogue provides information about all the pieces in its collection, both the ones on display and those in storage. The instruments are classified according to the Hornbostel-Sachs system (Aerophones, Chordophones, Idiophones, Membranophones, Electrophones). There are also three additional categories: Accessories and Instrument Parts, Objects and Relics and Keyboard Instruments.

An introductory item record presents each instrument and provides access to all related documents: photographs, technical drawings, restoration reports, scientific activities, archival documents; a more detailed sheet about each instrument is also provided.
