Annual meeting - Firenze and Roma, 6th-12th September 2009
On 2009, for the first time in its history, Italy hosted the annual meeting of CIMCIM (International Committee of Musical Instrument Museums and Collections - ICOM - UNESCO).

2009 was the fiftieth anniversary of the first meeting organized by John Henry van der Meer in den Haag to foster international collaboration among musical instrument museums, and from which CIMCIM arose.
To celebrate the anniversary the other principal musical instruments association joined the meeting: AMIS (American Musical Instruments Society), Galpin Society and Historic Brass Society

The CIMCIM annual conference is the most important meeting occasion for directors, curators and conservators of the main museums and collections all over the world, including Metropolitan Museum (New York), Cité della Musique (Paris) and museums in London, Berlin, Stockholm, Lisbon like, but also Tokyo, Sidney, Teheran and so on.

The first part of the meeting was in Florence, at the Galleria dell'Accademia, from 6th to 9th September. The second part, from 9th to 12th September, was hosted here at the MUSA.
There were four session in Rome, plus visits to the main city collections, a concert and the celebration party.
