The Museum is currently completing the studies and research necessary for publishing a scientific catalogue of the collection. These include historical studies of the instruments' provenance, which is not always recorded in documents currently available; background on the makers of the instruments; technical studies on the construction characteristics of certain instruments, which sometimes present unique peculiarities; and measurement and analysis with non-invasive methods.
All the instruments have been carefully photographed and thoroughly documented in their current state of conservation; they also undergo regular inspection to evaluate the need for cleaning, maintenance or preventive restoration.
